The Capture of Gilbert isle

the 8th fleet commandered by admiral spruance have initiated the gilbert isle invasion, landing the 13th and 14th army div,due to the distance of the iland to th hawaii base, the fleet suffered lack of fuel, to gather enough fuel to go back to hawaii, the destroyer borie have been sacrificed... the 14th fleet lead by Admiral nimithz is also headed for the gilbert isle... hopefully, his attacked would finally captured the island, giving the 8th fleet the oppurtunity to refuel there before heading back to hawaii or joining the task force to attack fiji island or the stronghold truk island...

consequently, the fiji island have been captured by the japanese along with the attacked of the guadalcanal... severing more the route to the philippine base and the british held singapore and brunei...

the 14th fleet under nimitz have landed in gilbert isle... reinforcing the ground troops, hopefully the gilbert island will fall before the end of the month.
