The battle of the South Pacific

03/03/1942
since the month of february 1942, the islands stretch of fiji, e santo and guadalcanal have been harassed and captured by the combined fleets under the leadership of admiral nagumo...
after the captured of gilbert island.. the pacific task force would be invading the the fiji island to establish a beach head, and hopefully captured if not isolate the entire australian continent to weaken the japanese hold on the southern pacific.

03/05/1942
the combined strikeforce of the japanese fleet consisting of the 9th, 6th, 1st, and 7th fleet, a total of 22 warships with 4 battle ships and 7 cruisers have totally destroyed the base of guadalcanal...
the US 8th fleet have encountered a sub of the junsen class and slightly damaged it with dept charges... no ships were damage in the sub attack.
03/06/1942
the 8th fleet encountered again a junsen class sub... manage to sink it.
the 8th fleet is initially tasked to land an invasion forces to the rabaul base... but having no information of the strenght of the base, the 8th fleet was ordered to assist the guadalcanal base... hoping to sink transports or small warships prawling the guadalcanal sea...
03/11/1942
the japanese base around the south pacific have sighted the US 8th fleet, sending squadrons of attack planes... no ships have been damaged.
unfortunately, 2 days ago, the 14th fleet were also attacked and manage to sink all of its transports... taking an army division with them.
03/12/1942
the 14th fleet is once again harassed by the japanese bombers from the fiji air force...causing a slight damage to the battleship new mexico.

the combined force of the 13th and 14th fleet invaded the fiji island and capturing it, destroying the japanese defenders.

few days ago, the japanese 1st fleet were sighted within the seas near the fiji island, it is still unclear if the target is fiji tiself or auckland naval base...

Ragoon have been over run, fortunately the british 17th and 18th fleet manage to flee before the base capitulated.

the 8th fleet under admiral spruance have been attacked by a squaron of bombers from the e santo base, with lexington as flagship, th fleet has air cover... the fleet is going to aukland to form the taskforce to take the mainland australia.

the japanese fleet were sighted harbored at the e santo base, the 8th took the initiative to do an air strike... engaing the base airforces but manage to seriously damaging a kongo class battleship.
3/21/1942
the 8th fleet continued its assualt on the japanese fleet at e santo base, sinking its transports, a heavy cruiser and heavily damaging the 2nd kongo class battleship.
the japanese 7th fleet manage to slip the cordon of the south pacific strike force consist of the 3rd and 14th fleet, managing to attack the auckland base.

it i still unclear why there are no resistance in the e santo base when the 8th fleet decided to take it...but the fact remain that it manage to turn the tide in the battle of the south pacific, capturing all major islands in the south pacific rim.

the 8th fleet have conducted an airstrike to the japanese 7th fleet, sinking an asashio class destroyer...
the 14th fleet under admiral nimitz engage the enemy fleet in a gun battle...
the battleship new mexico, regardless of its damaged stern, manage to sink the kongo class battle ship after its sister ship BB Mississippi landed a shell on the kongo's portside.
dividing the fleet into 3 sub group, the cruiser Minneapolis steam to the front of the japanese fleet to create a net that will encircle the japanese fleet.
the kongo class battleship manage to sink the destroyer porter.
the destoyer craven also manage to damaged the 2nd kongo class ship with its torpedoes. but the real damage came from the destroyer ellet, its torpedoes manage to hit the stren causing damaged to its main guns and engine. minneapolis shell also manage to his the damaged battleship.
the kongo, returning the favor fired a shot at the cruiser mnneapolis, damaging its stern and main guns,
it was the new mexico battleship that finally sunk the last battleship of the japanese 7th fleet, also killing its young commander, admiral kusaka (j).
03/26/1942
the japanese 1st fleet was finally within the ranged of nimitz gunners, they engaged the warships with the BB Mississippi firing the first shot, hitting the nagato class on the starboard causing minimal yet obvious damaged. followed by the its siter ship, the new mexico.
the cruiser minneapolis, giving a screen to the two battle ship manage to hit the yugumo class destroyer, damaging its guins and flooding its armory.
the naganto battleships tried to return firing, managing to hit the BB mississippi damaging its portside. the mississippi return fire and sunk the 1st nagato battleship.
it was dd ellet the finally sunk the cripple yugumo class destroyer.
the bb mississippi was the one that fired the killing shot sinking the 2nd nagato class to the depts of the pacific, along with the most experienced commander of the japanese imperial fleet, admiral yamamoto.
